PUSSYPAWS PUPPETRY
Summertime is thrilled to introduce our latest artists in residence, Pussypaws Puppetry, a newly formed, neuroinclusive troupe of artists working together to make dazzling puppet shows.
In a culture that often overlooks the internal worlds and erotic desires of people with disabilities, Pussypaws has formed a creative community where all facets of our humanity are worthy of being seen, sung, and celebrated. Summertime is ecstatic to help promote their radical celebration of sexual liberation, disability justice, and puppet pleasure!
The Pussypaws crew has already begun to transform Summertime into a fantastical puppet making workshop complete with bottles of nipple wine and seven Miss Piggy heads (and counting). Throughout the spring and summer, they’ll be crafting handmade puppets ranging from marionettes to cardboard creations to rod puppets to giant, full-body costumes.
These furry new friends will make their stage debut this November in That Paradise Place, a freewheeling, erotic, live puppet musical about the love, sex, and fantasy lives of artists with disabilities, at the Abrons Art Center.
Please welcome Pussypaws Puppetry to Summertime! Say hello to Kenneth Youngblood, Jenna Zacharia, Lauren McArthur, Emma Singer, Gabriella Sofia, Oswald Saenz, Tristan Higginbotham, Margot Werner, Dave Ercolini, Dean Millien, Priscilla Frank, Alana Hauser, and Chris Chronopoulos.
